Books have long been seen as gateways to knowledge, imagination, and mystery but some are believed to hold more than just words. Throughout history, there have been accounts of haunted or cursed books that bring misfortune, illness, or even supernatural occurrences to those who possess or read them.

Throughout history, books have been revered as vessels of knowledge, mystery, and power. While most books simply tell a story, there are those that seem to be something more objects imbued with an eerie presence, strange energies, or even curses. The following firsthand accounts explore cases of books that have exhibited unexplained and terrifying phenomena, leaving their owners questioning the boundaries between fiction and reality.

In 2013, a woman named Rachel, a small town librarian in England, inherited a collection of books from her late uncle, a historian specializing in esoteric texts. Among them was an early 20th-century volume titled 'The Unfinished Tome', which appeared completely blank. Thinking it was a misprint or unfinished work; she placed it on her bookshelf and forgot about it. Months later, Rachel was startled to find words appearing on the pages overnight dark, handwritten script she had never seen before. The writings spoke of unfulfilled promises, unspoken secrets, and names she did not recognize. Each morning, new entries appeared, growing darker and more threatening. One message read: "Do not close this book. We must finish what was started." This is only one of many researched investifations uncovered because of the next case.

Many seek out books by author, first editions and more for monetary worth, historical value or forgotten thoughts. Occasionally the odd book pops up that fits no search other than it simply looks fascinating. One such book did appear to book collector Thomas. He liked the look of the aged cover, pages and internal designs. Buying it he had no other intention than to add it to his collection. The old, tattered red book had sat innocently on the dusty antique centre’s bookshelf for years, its gilded title barely legible. Wityhin days he was having nightmares, voices, words apperaing on ceilings, musty smells and now violent attacks. And so the events unravel and ralph became embroiled into Shakespeare....
